Got GoWJ_blksuit_lores_no-bkgndals?

Most people do not write down their goals because it takes work, hard work! They say they want greater success, but are not willing to do the work! As my friend Les Brown says, “Most people are seriously, not serious!” If you sent me your goals, then I applaud you. If you did not write your goals then I say what I said at the close of last week’s message…
If you are serious you will do this exercise! If you are not serious, you won’t! Remember, your success is up to you! What are you going to do?

Check out each goal and make sure it is something that is specific (i.e. –you might have on the list to lose some weight…how much? Next, make sure it is measurable…is it something that you can place a check mark on once you hit it? Then see if is achievable and realistic, like it would not be achievable or realistic for me to say my goal was to play in the Super Bowl as the starting quarterback. I might like to play football with my friends, but it is not achievable or realistic for me to play in the Super Bowl, particularly at my age! Finally, make sure that it is time bound, which means that there is a time attached to achievement of the goal. Without a date, it is so easy to procrastinate!  Set the date and make sure it is clearly stated!

Next, outline a plan for each goal! Most people go into the day and say, “Here I am day…take me!” We should have a plan for our goals that we can work on daily. Take some time and think through the details and map out a plan. Plan your work, and then work your plan! It does not have to be written in stone, but there needs to be a plan. You can have flexibility in getting the plan implemented but you do need a plan.  All successful buildings are created with a blueprint, a building plan. All successful battles are won with a battle plan. And all successful teams have a game plan. The plan can change but there must be a plan. Remember… A goal without a plan is merely a wish!

Finally, take action…act on your plan. A vision without an action is an illusion. An action without a vision is mere confusion, but a vision with an action can transform your life! In the book, Think and Grow Rich, we are given the starting points to success, you must dream and think about what you want. Yet in order to maximize your success it is critical that you take action! You must make a commitment to take action to make your goals and dreams a reality. Taking action does not mean that you are just running around being busy without any focus, but rather that you are busy working your plan. So next to each goal write what action steps you are going to take today to move your goal forward. Then at the end of the day ask yourself, did you accomplish what you wanted so that you are then closer to your goal?

So let’s get going! There is work to be done!
