Live Better with Willie Jolley: Face It Like Facebook
Face It Like Facebook
By Dee Taylor-Jolley
On a recent Friday morning, Mark Zuckerberg held an all-hands meeting at Facebook's brand-new headquarters. Employees who were traveling were encouraged to return to the Menlo Park, CA headquarters. Those at other satellite offices around the world were told to watch via live stream.
The 2,000 employees were excited as the gathered in the large white tent. Many thought Zuckerberg would discuss Facebook's upcoming IPO. He did not!
Prioritize!
He had gathered to discuss priorities for 2012. No matter what happens on the outside, Zuckerberg told employees, keep your heads down. "Stay focused," he urged. "Keep shipping."
His hard charging personality helped propel Facebook from a dorm room at Harvard to the Menlo Park, CA campus that houses over 3,200 employees, in only eight years!
Be Driven
Facebook employees are driven to follow the principles written on posters that hang on the walls of their new headquarters. Like...“Done is Better than Prefect” and “Move Fast!”
On Friday, Facebook is to start trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market under the symbol "FB." Mark Zuckerberg will remain the company's largest shareholder with his personal stake in Facebook worth around $19 billion! Wow!
We are now deep into our Second Quarter! Are you keeping your head down, staying focused on the goals you set at the start of the year?? Are you disciplined about doing those unpleasant tasks that will lead to your success? Or do you need to make course corrections? Get going! Mimic Zuckerberg’s hard charging nature. Do it now!
